Terri N. Lee-Johnson is a seasoned midwife with over a decade of expertise in perinatal health and a foundation in sociology.

  • Inspired by a childhood calling to support birthing families, she is committed to compassionate, equitable, and community-centered care. Grounded in the principles of liberation, Terri views birth as a transformative journey and creates affirming spaces for those she accompanies along their reproductive paths.

Amy Stewart-Banbury

CPM-TN | Tennessee

Amy is a dedicated Certified Professional Midwife serving the greater Memphis area since 2004.

  • Her passion for natural healing and infant/child development led her to study herbalism and native plants, eventually inspiring her to become an early childhood Montessori teacher and develop an outdoor education program. With over 20 years of mother-baby experience, Amy is thrilled to bring her compassionate expertise to the Ova Sanctum community.

Aicha K. Scott

Aicha brings a wealth of expertise to midwifery care at Kaiser San Leandro.

  • As a Spinning Babies Aware Practitioner, she champions physiologic, easeful births while leading Centering Pregnancy sessions and anti-racism training for birth workers. With 17 years of dedicated experience and a passion for empowering families, Aicha inspires transformative birth experiences.

Alli Mitchell

MSN, CNM, IBCLC | Location

Alli is a dedicated Certified Nurse-Midwife and Board-Certified Lactation Consultant with a passion for education and community care.

  • Formerly clinical faculty at UCSF, she provided compassionate care across labor and delivery, clinical settings, and Centering group prenatal classes. Since 2021, Alli has shared her expertise through lactation and nutrition classes with Nourishing Pregnancy. Committed to empowering communities, she works closely with the Latinx and Black populations in the East Bay, enriching the Ova Sanctum community with her dedication and knowledge.

Christina Willis

RN | Tennessee

Christina is an RN based just outside Memphis, TN, currently pursuing her CNM degree at UTHSC with an expected graduation in May 2025.

  • Starting her healthcare career in the ER, she honed critical thinking and patient care skills before transitioning to women's health in 2022. As a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), Christina offers specialized support to new mothers. Her passion for midwifery is deeply personal—shaped by the transformative care she received during the births of her three children, two of which were home births. Christina believes every woman deserves to feel heard, supported, and empowered during her most vulnerable moments, and she is committed to providing evidence-based care with genuine compassion throughout every step of the wellness journey.

Talita Wells Oseguera

CNM, MSN, RN, IBCLC | Tennessee

Talita is a community midwife, lactation consultant, and advocate for reproductive justice.

  • With experience as a full-spectrum doula since 2013, she hails from Los Angeles—educated at UCLA and trained in nurse midwifery with a minor in Global Health at UCSF. Talita served as a field nurse on SOLARS, a pioneering study on the impacts of stress, anxiety, and racism on preterm birth among Black and Brown communities, and co-authored Battling Over Birth: Black Women and the Maternal Health Care Crisis. Today, she practices at an all-Black midwifery clinic in Memphis, Tennessee, offering comprehensive sexual and reproductive health, prenatal care, free-standing birth center services, and postpartum support, while also serving as a lactation consultant at a local hospital.


Maya Johnson

LM, CPM-WA | Location

Maya is a Licensed Midwife with over 15 years of international experience in maternal-child health.

  • Beginning her midwifery journey in Brazil at the University of São Paulo, she has worked in diverse settings, from public health clinics to private birth centers, advocating for informed choice and respectful care. Holding a Master of Arts in Maternal-Child Health Systems from Bastyr University, Maya has attended over 500 births and facilitated international training with PRONTO International to improve maternal-neonatal outcomes. As Assistant Professor and Program Director at Bastyr University, she contributes to midwifery education and equity initiatives. Maya offers home-visit postpartum and lactation care and is dedicated to empowering families through evidence-based, compassionate care while fostering community connections. 

Adrianna Valerde

CPM, CA(LM), IBCLC | California

Adriana has been captivated by the science and miracle of birth since childhood.

  • With a background in public health, she earned her Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) certification in 2021 and became a California Licensed Midwife (CA(LM)) in 2022. Passionate about postpartum care, she offers individualized postnatal support and professional lactation guidance as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Ady also enjoys teaching aspiring maternal–child health professionals as adjunct faculty, continually embracing new challenges by donning her various professional “hats.”
